WHAT TO WEAR: Leisure for Lecture

Have you ever heard the expression, “Beauty is pain?” At this point, I’m fairly certain this philosophy doesn’t apply during a New England winter. You could say I’m a staunch supporter of finding a happy medium between practicality and style. It’s important to feel confident and comfortable in your look, so you can focus on doing your best in classes and extracurriculars especially during midterm season. If you are seeking ways to incorporate this mindset into your style without resorting to sweats, look no further than this Fashionista!

Among Boston’s varied mix of wintry weather was an unseasonably warm afternoon. This Fashionista caught my eye with her seemingly effortless combination of cool and casual. Patterned leggings like this pair from Primark are a fun and comfortable way to stay comfortable and stand out at the same time.

Personally, I’m a huge fan of finding alternatives to denim. If you want to add a fun retro twist on your outfit, try wearing your favorite band T-shirt like this one from a Florence + the Machine concert. Concert T-shirts can easily be modified to incorporate your personal style, and can also keep your mind on a fun memory as you go about your everyday tasks. Throw on a pair of classic black Converse like this Fashionista, and you’re already sporting a look that will turn heads. To complete the ensemble, an army jacket like this one from Nordstrom will almost always do the trick. This style is classic and is easy to layer with, making it great for any type of weather.

This unique and casual look was perfect for the walk to class on a sunny Wednesday afternoon. It is also easily achievable for any college student, what could be better?
