WHAT TO WEAR: Keeping Cozy in the Snow

February 2nd, 2017 at 2:00am

The snow and below freezing temperatures have been in full force here on campus. From walking to class to meeting up with friends, there is no avoiding the cold. While sweat pants and a sweatshirt are definitely tempting options to wear to keep warm, I love mixing and matching layers for a cute and stylish winter outfit. With the right pieces, warmth does not have to be compromised, and this is why this Fashionista’s look is perfect for class.

What first caught my eye was her fuzzy, gray turtleneck sweater. I love turtlenecks for winter because they have a chic, streamlined look while keeping the wearer protected from the natural elements. She affirms her style credibility by layering a leather vest over her sweater. Though she is also wearing her staple black winter coat, the leather and knit peeking through make for an interesting mix of texture. Texture is key when layering an outfit.

For a sleek look, she decided to wear a pair of simple dark blue jeans. Being the fashion lover that I am, I always appreciate it when students dress up on campus. By deciding to wear jeans instead of sweats, this Fashionista’s outfit is up a whole new level.

She finished off her outfit with black Hunter rain boots and a black, leather mini backpack. Rain boots work perfectly well in the snow and have added height that regular snow boots do not have. Lastly, her leather backpack is a fun and fashionable alternative to a classic backpack. Perfect for being practical and stylish at the same time.

This Fashionista knows what she is doing when dressing stylishly for a frigid day. From layering cozy key pieces to wearing updated classics, she shows how comfort and warmth does not have to be sacrificed for winter style.
