WHAT TO WEAR: Interviews

The summer season brings warm weather, fun vacations and also free time to work a summer job or internship! If you can score an interview with a company, you better dress to impress! Interview attire is sometimes difficult to choose during the hot summer months. You want to look polished but need to stay cool too! Plus, each job interview may require completely different attire. You wouldn’t go into a fashion interview wearing unfashionable clothes, but you also wouldn’t go into an accounting interviewing wearing bold, bright prints and colors.

I always think about the job position I am interviewing for and what people in that company typically wear. If it’s a fashion retail store, you want to make sure you’re showing off the company’s merchandise and how you style it your own way. For some positions, fashion is not the focus and they want you to tone it down. In this case, keep your outfit simple and professional so that your clothes don’t take the focus away from the interview. The key is balance; knowing how to mix polished items with appropriate industry-focused attire.

I found this Fashionista who knew all about keeping her interview attire balanced while showing her personal style as well! She had just come out of a fashion interview and I couldn’t help but notice how nicely she dressed up her pink A-line dress! The dress is perfect for warmer weather since it is a lighter material that flows with the wind, while the pink color adds a great color to the rest of the outfit. The Fashionista’s black blazer is a perfect way to make her outfit look more professional while her black skinny belt cinches in her waist. She accessorized her outfit with a chic white and gold bracelet and cute watch to contrast the black and pink colors in her outfit. Accessories are a great way to show your personal style but you must remember not to go overboard! Her hammered pebble gold necklace draw eyes up to add a little bit of flare to her neckline, while she kept it simple on her feet with strappy black wedges. Wedges are a great way to stay sturdy if you’re a bit uneasy on heels or want a bit more comfort on your feet!

One Simple Change: Remove the blazer and switch out the wedges for flat sandals and you’re ready for a chic brunch with friends!
