WHAT TO WEAR: Interview

February 23rd, 2016 at 2:00am

Black is a great color, considering it is elegant and chic, and looks good on all skin tones. Black also looks good with all hair colors and body types. The greatest thing about it is, black looks professional and perfect for an occasion like an interview, if you style it correctly. One of my favorite fashion inspirations is Coco Chanel, and she said it best: “Women think of all colors except the absence of color. I have said that black has it all…its beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony.”

This Fashionista made sure that she didn’t make her all-black outfit one-dimensional by having many different textures and fabrics paired together. She wears a long, tight fitting skirt, a shirt with jewels to add a statement, a long cardigan, and a pair of tights to give that professional, put together look to not only fit the proper business attire, but to also show off her own personal style. A great staple to add to this outfit are her black suede booties with jewels on them, as well. This Fashionista chose the right fabrics for the cold weather, with the cotton sweater to keep her warm and the tights that pair well with the thick heeled booties, adding the extra chicness to an outfit that would look rather plain without them.

Textures can be created without looking like the outfit is too extreme. Notice how this Fashionista has a perfect blend of cotton, suede and the sheer look of the tights. Her outfit also came with bejeweled accents, adding that extra sparkle to the all-black ensemble. Wearing all-black can be difficult, but wearing it like this Fashionista does, edgy becomes your middle name. All-black definitely lets you go a little over the top in your own personal way, considering there are many different ways to create an all-black outfit-from fringe, to jewelry, to scarves and belts, to your go-to shoes. And, it can be great to look fashionable and polished for an interview to make a good first impression with your future boss.

One Simple Change: Going to a casual restaurant with your friends? Just trade the skirt and tights for your favorite pair of jeans and you’re comfy and good to go for a girl’s night out!
