WHAT TO WEAR: Greek Life

September 24th, 2015 at 2:00am

At the beginning of each fall semester a fraternity hosts all sorts of events from recruitment barbecues, to community fundraisers to mixers with sororities. Whether you’re a chapter member or chapter president like this Fashionisto, having the right outfit can help your fraternity be the best-dressed fraternity on campus.

“When it comes to dressing for Greek life, you want to find a balance between professional and comfortable,” says this Fashionisto. “You want to come off as collected and confident, but without seeming arrogant or snobby.” To get this professional, yet comfortable, look start with a classic button-down in a bold print or color. Rolling up the shirt sleeves will help your outfit from looking stuffy, and often shirt cuffs have a contrasting pattern underneath—show the contrast off by rolling the cuffs up high, so they’re on display.

Weather it is still warm and sunny in the first weeks of the school year, so soak up the sun in a pair of shorts while you can. The neutral shorts in this outfit make the button-down the center of the show. Of course, no prepster’s outfit is complete without a pair of Sperry Top-Siders in timeless leather, matched up top with a pair of cool aviators.

One Simple Change: Is the weather cooler than expected? Throw a crewneck sweatshirt with your Greek letters on over your button-down, making sure the collar of the button-down shows. Preppy and stylish, while still showing support for your chapter!
