WHAT TO WEAR: Graduation

We are all looking forward to summers full of sun, travel and internships. However, there is one last milestone we have to hit before packing up our stuff and leaving campus: graduation. Whether you are receiving your degree or watching friends as they enter the next chapter of their lives, graduation is a special day for everyone. It’s also one of the biggest events of the summer to get dressed up for.

If you’re looking to stand out in a sea of floral sundresses, this Fashionista’s outfit is an amazing choice. It’s light, summery and perfect for the occasion but strays from the norm. Instead of a dress or maxi skirt, this Fashionista opted for a pair of flowing wide-leg pants. These are a great idea for a graduation event, especially if it is outside. Light colors and fabrics and loose cuts will keep you cool while not being too skimpy for the occasion.

I adore the color combinations in this outfit. Her patterned kimono is the ideal piece to keep the sun off of her shoulders. I love the way that she picked up on the color palette of the kimono and chose bright pink shoes to match. The color-blocking of the pants and shoes is a nice touch. However, this Fashionista doesn’t stop at clothes. She incorporated the color palette into her beauty routine by wearing aqua nail polish and a swipe of pink lip stain.

One Simple Change: One issue with special events is that we often buy a new outfit for the occasion but fail to wear the pieces ever again. That’s why wide-leg pants are an excellent choice. Pair them with a top of the same color to create a sleek matching set for a girl’s night out. Add some minimalistic heels and a clutch, and you’re ready to go.
