WHAT TO WEAR: Game Day

October 18th, 2016 at 2:00am

Waking up on Saturday morning to the sound of our band’s drums, I quickly realized it’s that time of year again—football season! The time to dig out all of your school’s colors and get out with your community and classmates to cheer on your team, and look fashionable while doing it, of course. This being my first semester at Clemson, my first game day taught me many lessons in fashion and life. I hope you all can learn from my first game day blunders!

This Fashionista found the perfect game day outfit for a noon game in September. I cannot stress enough how bad the heat is here right now. Finding a way to stay cool is a feat not many are willing to undertake; however, this lacy romper accomplishes this task. The lace is breathable and doesn’t feel too heavy while standing in the sun for hours on end. In the back, the lace is open, flowy and sheer. This adds to the breath-ability and is a cute detail that makes this outfit stand out from the slew of orange and purple parading around campus.

To add something extra, this Fashionista paired her romper with simple, gold, braided sandals that match her other gold accessories. The gold earrings and bracelet also add a little sparkle without overwhelming the outfit overall. Finally, a small, cross-body bag is a must for game day. Football games are a full day event and, if you are like me, you need to be able to carry the necessities with you: phone, water, sunglasses and snacks, of course!

The lace overlay of this romper reflects a trend that was huge at New York Fashion Week in the spring—fall florals. I know, I know, it is aggressively hot and really doesn’t feel like it will ever cool down. But as of September 22, it is officially fall and my wardrobe sure is reflecting it! Some of the fall trends I am obsessed with and will thoroughly be incorporating include anything metallic, faux furs and mismatched patterns. Fashion is much more than following the crowd and doing strictly what the professionals are doing, but personally, I find that taking trends and integrating them into your individual style is a perfect way to keep fashion evolving. What trends are you looking forward to making your own this fall?
