I caught up with this week’s Fashionista as she was on her way to her cheerleading formal. After inquiring if there was a theme, it was revealed that the Kentucky Derby had been an inspiration, hence the big hat. I thought it was such a unique theme and obviously fitting since the big race had just happened.
We all know by now that I have trouble when it comes to accessorizing my outfits, so I’m a big fan of this Fashionista’s black halter dress with a statement jeweled collar! Not only is it classy looking, but it also saves you the stress of figuring out a necklace. Halter dresses are great because you do not have to worry about pulling up your dress (unlike their strapless sister) and you can focus on busting a move on the dance floor.
I love a good floppy hat. This hat is great because the neutral beige on the hat matches the color of her shoes perfectly. This also helped break up all the black in her outfit. And, hello—sun protection! There is no such thing as too much sun protection.
Her wedges are perfect for toning down the formality of the dress while still being comfortable enough to dance the night away with her fellow teammates. They also add an edginess to her attire.
One Simple Change: This dress would also be perfect for graduation brunch with your parents! Just change into a pair of cute black flats and grab a cardigan in case it is cold in the restaurant.
