WHAT TO WEAR: Fashion Show Fashionista

This week I had the chance to attend one of the many events going on during Chicago Fashion Week. Chicago doesn’t have a proper fashion week like Paris or New York, but it’s incredible to see the fashion industry that we have here in the city come together for this event. The nature of Chicago style is individuality and self-expression, which was reflected in the designers and the attendees of this event. The chance to see the Chicago fashion industry out in force was incredible and reminded me just why I love this city.

Even if you consider yourself fashion savvy, it can be a challenge to find exactly the right look for a fashion industry event. I took this opportunity to seek out a fellow university Fashionista who rocked her own unique style in the face of this daunting event.

One of my favorite things to remind people when they ask me about style is to stay true to yourself. This Fashionista embodied this advice to a tee with her classy artistic style. She embodied the casual Chicago flow and stayed true to herself at the same time.

Layering a blue T-shirt dress under her warm gray sweater from francesca’s, this Fashionista turned a late summer look into a cute fall ensemble. The gray sweater is adorned with faux elbow patches for a bohemian flare. Pairing this cute sweater with her heeled booties keeps this look grounded and stylish at the same time.

The layered jewelry gives this look an extra edge, emanating her personal style. This Fashionista nailed her look and topped it off with a killer up-do and a flirty red lip. By opting for a black clutch and minimal hand jewelry, this outfit stays classy and fun without being weighed down by a huge bag or an overabundance of accessories.

Even if you don’t have a fashion show or an event to attend, this look is classic and casual enough for every day. Dress it up or dress it down and add your own flare; this look goes down as a favorite in my style diary!
