WHAT TO WEAR: Fall

As soon as the fall season comes around some people begin to think, “tis the season to be #basic!” but as Fashionista/os, we know this is not an option. The beginning of fall is always a difficult season to dress for because we often find ourselves freezing all morning and extremely warm throughout the afternoon and into the evening. So how does one stay fashionable in the fall? Layering! And no, I don’t mean with leggings and UGG boots.

This Fashionista nailed it on her way to campus. The best way to start the layering process is with a simple color palette. I sometimes use all denim in varying shades, but a dark fitted pant and denim button-down always looks fab. The next step is finding the perfect layering piece and nothing screams fall more than a loose knit sweater. The best part about this garment is how versatile it is to style. You can easily take your look from casual-prep, like this Fashionista did, or go more casual with some boho touches. As for shoes, flats are always a nice touch, but if you’re going to sport a pair of leather booties like this Fashionista, finding a comfortable knit sock is always a good idea. More than likely the socks will be used as more of an accessory than a necessity, so look for an accent color that will tie the whole look together and give you some extra warmth. This Fashionista is ready for whatever the weather may be!

One Simple Change: If you wanted to dress for a more formal setting you can switch the loose sweater out for one that is fitted. This gives the top more structure and the look won’t be so casual. To finish it off you can add a statement necklace that rests underneath the collar of the button-down for some embellishment.
