It’s official—fall is in full swing. Apples are in season, leaves are changing colors and temperatures are dropping. With this colder weather comes a whole new realm of possibilities for your wardrobe. Sweaters, hats, scarves and jackets are all options to mix and match for new, cozier looks.

Cold weather not only brings more wardrobe awesome options, but it also means having to choose outfits that will help in staying warm. Layering is key for this in the fall; it keeps you at the right temperature and allows you to adjust for those days that might be a little bit warmer. This Fashionisto’s outfit shows some great layering that creates a classic, casual look.

He starts his look with a striped, blue button-up that would look great on its own, but isn’t exactly warm enough for a brisk fall day in Minnesota. On top of that, he adds a gray crew neck sweatshirt for a combination that is both functional and fashionable. This Fashionisto opted for a classic pair of dark jeans, but this kind of look could also be paired with some khakis or even a pair of olive green pants. He cuffs his jeans, and then wears a pair of brown lace-up boots to finish his outfit. The look is simple but put-together and all around a perfect go-to look for fall.

One Simple Change: For a slightly more preppy take on this look, swap out the crew neck sweatshirt for a button-up cardigan, and exchange the boots for a pair of oxfords. You’ll have the same type of look, just a different way to wear it!
