WHAT TO WEAR: Errands

Looking fashionable while running errands can be difficult because you are moving quickly, rushing and trying to get everything done efficiently. While running errands can be stressful and time consuming, one can still effortlessly put together a chic outfit that is also comfortable and easy to maneuver in! Nobody said being a Fashionista was going to be easy!

This Fashionista is dorm room shopping for some fun wall décor and new bedding. Knowing her mother is going to be dragging her to many different furniture and department stores, she opted for a comfortable yet fashionable look for the day. Loose clothing is always a good call for running errands because you don’t need to worry about feeling constricted or uncomfortable while darting around stores. She is wearing a loose pair of patterned shorts from a boutique in Soho to make her outfit extra summery looking. Since the shorts are a statement piece, she went with a simple T-shirt to balance out the outfit. This shirt is from Brandy Melville, which is the perfect store to shop for basics. Their clothing is not only affordable and fashionable but also extremely comfortable and flattering. Finally, she chose a comfortable pair of lace-up espadrilles from the Gap, which are easy to walk in and perfect for a busy day of shopping.

This Fashionista’s outfit is nearly perfect for running errands, yet her choice in bringing a big bag on her busy day may cause some discomfort and difficulty. Big bags are hard to carry for a long day of shopping and are often unnecessary. I suggest carrying a cross-body so that both of your hands are free for shopping bags or sifting through store shelves and racks of clothing. All you need to carry with you is your wallet, a lip balm, sunglasses and maybe some other toiletries to freshen up your look throughout the day. Rebecca Minkoff makes great cross-body bags that are perfect for any outfit, whether casual or formal.

One Simple Change: Finally, this look can easily be transformed from running errands to going out to dinner or meeting up with friends. It is super casual, but the shorts bring some formality to the occasion. Tie a chic scarf around the side of your bag just in case it gets chilly in the evening. Drape a cardigan, or a blazer for a fancy dinner, over your bag to throw on and switch up your look a bit. Don’t let running errands be an excuse to look sloppy and unkempt—remember you can be a Fashionista at all times!
