WHAT TO WEAR: Easy, Breezy, Yeezy

Kayne West is in the building. The building being Amalie Arena, an easy 10-minute walk from my campus, the University of Tampa. Pictured is this Fashionista (my roommate), who wanted to come up with an outfit that she could rock, look badass in and ultimately leave her feeling confident while in her own shoes—the only part of the outfit that’s actually hers—at the Kayne concert.

A few hours before the event, she mixed and matched a bunch of different pieces but finally decided to stick to an all-black theme. Personally, I think solid black is a look every girl should have in their back pocket. Psychologically speaking, the human brain processes the color black as having an air of mystery, power, control and gives off an intimidating feel—exactly what we were going for.

Another plus side of this outfit is that most of the pieces were purchased on the cheaper side. The cropped tank top is a Kendell and Kylie piece that hooks in the back, available at PacSun, and a steal for only $25. The mini skirt zips in the back and is made with faux leather, a texture that gives the outfit a slight punk vibe, bought for $15 at Forever 21. The layered necklaces are all attached to one band, a Free People piece for $40. I’ve been seeing black suede laces that girls have been tying around their necks all over campus. This necklace plays on the same popular concept but gives off a unique aspect with the added silver. Finally, completing the look are this Fashionista’s solid black strappy wedges from Madden Girl, available at DSW for $50.

I hope you’ve learned that not every outfit you ever put together has to have a variation of different patterns and colors, and sometimes all black is the best choice. The consistent one color makes the style look almost effortless while still providing an intimidating feel, perfect for seeing Kayne West or any other time a Fashionista wants to feel like a rock star for the night.
