WHAT TO WEAR: Date Night

As you grill those last few burgers and soak up those last rays of sunshine, your mind is inevitably turning toward this upcoming season. My favorite season, I might add. Nothing beats fall, with its surplus of pumpkin lattes and cozy sweaters, but before we get any of those, we have to go through those dreaded transitional weeks.

So as you’re making those final strolls down your favorite beach with that beautiful lifeguard, take note of a few date night pieces that can help carry you over to your first week back on campus.

Go back to black. It’s simple, it’s versatile and it pretty much transcends trends and seasons, so it’s the perfect color to wear when the weather gets a little confusing.  A cute skater skirt is the perfect mix between flirty and fun, and it can function in almost any setting, whether it be formal or more casual.

Try to stick to quieter shades of colors that don’t seem to trigger any innate seasonal vibes. This Fashionista chose an adorable faded green crop top with a high neck. Not only does it bleed seamlessly into fall, but its lightness, cut and texture all work for the breeziness of summer style.

It’s time to start putting those tall wedges away, darlings, and pull out your most neutral of shoes. Ankle boots are loved and can last years, so it’s no wonder that we wear them as soon as a season ends right up until that first day we stick our toes in the sand. These tan leather boots are so inconspicuous that they blend right into this Fashionista’s aesthetic. They add a little flare but never feel like a statement.

For jewelry, don’t be afraid to add a few funky pieces that show your date who you are inside and out. A cute pendant or some adorable earrings can make any outfit stand out.

One Simple Change: If you’re feeling a little adventurous and want to throw a more trendy fall piece in, wear a leather skater skirt instead and add a little edge to your outfit.
