WHAT TO WEAR: Daily NYC

March 22nd, 2017 at 2:05am

It’s no myth that New York City is one of the most competitive cities in the world. It seems like almost everyone here is constantly on their A-game in regards to school, careers, and appearance. One thing I’ve worked on throughout my time in New York is how to look like I’m giving 100 percent even when I’m actually feeling 20 percent. So, how are you supposed to do that? It all starts with a good outfit and confidence, of course, and this Fashionista embodies that.

Although athleisure is a huge trend among New Yorkers and people nationwide, it’s not the only way to be casual and comfortable. The simplicity of this Fashionista’s outfit keeps it casual while the details make various statements. For example, these yellow mom jeans are an interesting twist on the usual blue denim that we see so often, and they are far more eye-catching as well.

Also, I would be remiss to not mention this Fashionista’s adorable, personalized backpack. Although black Jansport backpacks are sported by nearly everyone at university, you certainly won’t find another one like this. The pins and patches are not only trendy this season but also communicate a lot about this Fashionista’s unique identity.

While those statement pieces do most of the talking, the rest of this outfit gets to remain pretty effortless. Paired with the mom jeans is a simple graphic T-shirt, finished off with a black moto jacket. For final touches, this Fashionista slipped on a pair of sheer socks under her cutout booties. The elements of this outfit come together to create a look that is comfortable enough to wear throughout a day of classes and errands yet stylish enough to let everyone know she’s on her A-game, too.
