WHAT TO WEAR: Concert

Nothing defines the ’90s more than Pearl Jam, plaid shirts, destroyed jeans, bed-head hair, smudged makeup and, of course, the boots. For the last couple of years, the grunge era has started to resurface with shows like Portlandia and Netflix streaming classic ’90s films like Clueless. Even high fashion designers like Saint Laurent sent models down the runway this past autumn/winter 2014 season in plaid and lots of black. So, it comes as no surprise that grunge has surged its way into street style.

This Fashionista has all the elements for the perfect ’90s-inspired concert outfit. A black moto jacket over a black V-neck, a plaid mini skirt with pocket detailing, a pair of classic Dr. Martens to add some ruggedness and a simple gold necklace comprise the look. It’s a great outfit to see your favorite band in because you can slip the jacket on and off throughout the night and it’s definitely an item that every “cool girl” should have. You don’t have to sacrifice comfort for style. The skirt contains pockets so you can carry just the basics and not have to lug around a gigantic purse. In addition, the blue and green tones in the skirt keep the look modern and follow the dark tonality of the over arching look. Besides looking cool, the boots also keep your feet warm from the cold weather.

One Simple Change: Taking a day to study in the library? Slip on a pair of denim jeans for more comfort and keep the other key pieces in the look.
