WHAT TO WEAR: Cold Weather

January 29th, 2016 at 2:00am

During the cold winter months, we all try to bundle up and stay warm. But why does this mean we have to just settle for drab? Adding layers and texture to any cold weathered outfit can really help spice it up!

Today’s Fashionista paired casual jeans and a black T-shirt with bright pops of color. She layered a mustard cardigan and a cream, knit scarf for staying warm and fashionable. This Fashionista topped it off with a purple beanie, because hats are always a great go-to for extra warmth during these blustery months. This girl’s style is comfy and casual with a boho feel. She completed her look by wearing a pair of slouchy, cream socks and taupe combat boots to add dimension. I also really love her bold, blue finger nails and silver rings!

Personally, I have grown to really enjoy winter fashion. There is a lot to work with. I enjoy any look that lets me express myself while feeling cozy and comfortable. Here in West Virginia, students are all about dressing in clothes that are functional for inches of snow, and even rain. So while this may mean wearing sensible snow boots, we can still use our fashion senses to incorporate our styles into other pieces of our outfit. So stay warm fashion lovers, but stray away from any look that makes you feel boring for those holiday parties and winter outings!

One Simple Change: This outfit can also be easily altered to fit other seasons! The bold hues and fun cardigan could definitely work in the spring. Replacing the thick, chunky scarf with a more thin material, and possibly losing the hat, would be more comfortable for warmer weather. Who doesn’t love an outfit that is completely versatile?
