WHAT TO WEAR: Cold Weather

October 28th, 2015 at 2:06am

As the cold weather begins to slowly creep its way into our everyday lives, we have to make sure to be dressed for the occasion. A pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks may taste delicious, but it will not keep you warm on those cold winter nights.

Being from the South, fall is almost nonexistent to us. But, when we are faced with chilly days and nights we are always one step ahead of the game. This Fashionisto’s outfit perfectly embodies fall style in the south—subtle warmth. Wearing an oversized denim jacket is the perfect staple piece to rock in the fall, due to its multifaceted functions, warmth and breathability. You want to make sure to stay warm without compromising the whole aesthetic of your outfit; if the weather decides to warm up a bit more throughout the day, a denim jacket is something that can easily be removed.

Besides using an oversized denim jacket for outerwear, this Fashionisto is also wearing a pair of light wash denim jeans and a vintage Reebok T-shirt, which adds to the effortless, vintage appeal he seems to be going for in his ensemble. T-shirts are also the perfect go-to piece when it comes to transitional fall and winter weather. Just like the denim jacket, T-shirts too are a conventional piece for warmer temperatures due to the breathability of the fabric. As for accessories, this Fashionisto went with a pair of distressed Converse sneakers and an evergreen five-panel hat that allows the collar of his jacket to be popped. Adding some quirky pins to the side of his hat brings this whole look together by adding a little character and uniqueness to an already outstandingly awesome cold weather outfit.

One Simple Change: Ready for a night out after a long week of classes? Make this outfit weekend-ready by exchanging the hat and the Converse for a pair of Chelsea boots and a wide brim hat. Throw on a leather jacket and you will be ready for all the chaos the weekend has to offer.
