WHAT TO WEAR: Cold Weather

If you haven’t learned by now, Evanston weather can be rather brutal. It’s smart to dress warmly whether you’re embarking on a half hour walk or going just across the street. The key to navigating the cold weather is most definitely to layer.

This Fashionista is an expert at layering. Layering doesn’t just mean throwing on a jacket, although that’s better than doing nothing. It means wearing a jacket as well as a shirt under your sweater and warm socks, gloves, a hat and a scarf. It can often be hard to put all these things together in a visually appealing way. This Fashionista shows that choosing neutral colors for your winter accessories is probably the best route to go. Her hat, gloves, jacket and booties are all different colors, but they don’t clash. Check out this scarf, this hat and these gloves, which all come in good neutral colors, to achieve a similar look.

You can never have enough winter accessories; however, so it is always nice to have a few fun options. I personally love this red bow beret from Nordstrom and this ASOS leopard scarf. I never oppose adding a pop of color to an otherwise dark outfit.

One Simple Change: Don’t let the cold weather keep you from going out with your friends! Want to take the outfit from day to night? Simply switch the plaid shirt and sweater out for a pretty blouse. The jacket will keep you warm while outside, but the blouse will do once warmly inside.
