WHAT TO WEAR: Cold Weather

February 4th, 2015 at 2:00am

Living in Boston in the winter, we all know the stress that can come from dressing for New England weather. Will it be cold and wet or cold and sunny or cold and abominably windy, we ask ourselves desperately before leaving the safety of our rooms. Most times we take a leap of faith and pile the layers on for winter, but it can be hard to keep things fashionable when you just want to bury yourself in clothing.

The day I found this stylish Fashionista, snow was rushing down quickly as what has been affectionately named Snowpocalypse 2015 arrived to bury our campus. As freezing cold as it was, this Fashionista still managed to look put together and warm. To achieve this look she paired a large black puffer jacket with some dark wash skinny jeans, a large black leather bag and simple, black ankle boots. She then added a contrasting statement piece with a chunky and cozy cream-colored scarf. Her cute look was enhanced by her spunky high ponytail that was accessorized with a warm, black knit headband.

The beauty of this outfit is in its simplicity. The mainly black pairings create an interesting texture look as the pieces are distinguished by their materials rather than their colors. Similarly, the clean black lines emphasize the Fashionista’s minimal black eyeliner and dark, high ponytail.

One Simple Change: If what started out as a snowy blizzard suddenly clears to a sunny but still freezing winter day, simply throw on a pair of cool sunglasses and a lighter scarf to attain the perfect new look.
