WHAT TO WEAR: Cold Weather

With the snowy days of winter upon us, function will often times beat out fashion when it comes to getting dressed in the morning. When you walk outside to venture across campus, you want to be warm and comfortable. As this Fashionista shows, you can dress for the weather while still looking stylish.

One of the most important elements of your outfit when heading into the cold is your jacket. Since your jacket is going to cover your outfit when outside, it is a great idea to choose a jacket that is not only warm but also fashionable. This Fashionista’s olive green parka with a faux fur trimmed hood is a perfect example. The length of this parka and the faux shearling lining will keep her very warm. Though many view olive as a more neutral color, it will still stand out amongst the sea of dark colored outerwear pieces seen across campus.

Something else to consider when venturing into the snow is what type of shoes you are going to wear. The key is to find shoes or boots that are waterproof, sturdy and will prevent you from slipping, just like the L.L.Bean boots she is wearing. L.L.Bean boots are a trend on my campus due to their classic style and functionality.

To keep herself extra warm, she threw on a maroon scarf and wool camp socks. Both of these items provide an opportunity to add more color and personal style to your outfit as this Fashionista did with her scarf. She keeps her look fairly casual with a plain pair of blue jeans and a cozy white cable knit sweater. Sweaters are a great option for snow days because while they are warm and comfy, and they can also be trendy and help portray a certain look.

One Simple Change: Buy a jacket that is waterproof to prevent you from getting soaked when you are caught in rain or snow.
