WHAT TO WEAR: Cold Weather

Winter break is coming to an end and many of us are arriving back to our dorms, greeting our campuses after the new year. It’s time to get back into the routine of waking up early and heading to class, this time sporting the precious pieces we’ve acquired over break. That’s right Fashionistas/os, a new stylish semester is upon us!

As much as I love the cold weather (or maybe more so the idea of it), when it comes to street style fashion, the coat tends to hide the outfit underneath. In the winter, the coat simply does all the talking. However, this Fashionista proved me wrong when I saw her sitting near a bodega on 14th Street. I loved how she combined both dark and light hues that complemented the floral shirt underneath. With this layered outfit one can notice her cool, laid back sense of style with her green Dr. Martens and acid-washed denim jeans. No one can deny that this Fashionista looks comfortable and cozy, especially with her beanie, a thick tube scarf and two knitted sweaters.

What I love about New York is that no matter how cold it is outside, people will inspire you to style your outfits differently. NYC has a special artsy quirk to it. The city just comes with it and it is especially shown in Lower Manhattan. This Fashionista’s well worn layers not only demonstrate how to survive the cold weather but they spark individuality in winter fashion.

One Simple Change: Rock this outfit with a leather jacket and you are ready to hit the nearest concert!
