WHAT TO WEAR: Cold Weather

Winter is very much in full swing at Cleveland State University. So what’s a girl to do when it’s less than 10 degrees outside? Layers, layers, layers and more layers. It’s so easy to end up looking like Ralphie from A Christmas Story if you start piling on sweaters, coats, scarves and gloves with no thought, but with a few simple pieces it is possible to be both warm and stylish.

This Fashionista has perfectly chic and warm winter layers. Throwing on too many chunky layers to stay warm can often bulk you up and be unflattering, but this Fashionista’s fit and flare coat accentuates her waist and shows off her figure without sacrificing comfort in the cold.

Underneath, she wears a fringed cardigan, which is just long enough to peek out from under her coat giving a little fun, quirky touch to her look. She tops it off by pairing her combat boots, scarf and gloves in neutral colors that harmonize great with her hair color. She adds interest to her style by not getting too matchy-matchy with her accessories; instead she keeps them all in the same warm color family. She adds another element when she takes off her gloves and shows off her boho chic rings that also coordinate with her earth tone winter accessories.

One Simple Change: Once the weather gets warmer, easily transform this look from winter to spring by trading the warm coat for a thinner trench coat in a soft color.
