WHAT TO WEAR: Class

There’s a saying in North Carolina that never fails to prove true: if you don’t like the weather, wait ten minutes. If you don’t check the weather before you start getting dressed, there’s a good chance you’ll either sweat straight through your ski coat or shiver right out of your cardigan. Here in Boone, we’ve been bouncing back and forth between sunny spring weather and arctic chill.

This Fashionista took full advantage of a mild day to pull off a very clean look. By keeping her look simple with a plain neutral shirt and brown leather jacket, she was able to play with the focal points: her scarf and her shoes. The resurgence of snake skin never fails to make me giggle with excitement, and her shoes had me grinning from ear to ear. In fact, they were the first thing I noticed about her outfit. Then I saw her scarf. Chunkily knit with variegated yarn, this Fashionista paired it perfectly with the rest of her look.

As a known proponent of a more playful style, it was nice to see someone use simplicity in such a clever way. By completely eliminating extensive jewelry and strictly wearing a toned down color palette, my Fashionista this week used her pared-down style to stand out.

One Simple Change: If you’re going for a pared-down look, but still want to make a statement, find a printed jacket. Our Fashionista this week whispers style, but throw on a blazer or bomber with a floral or galaxy print and she’ll be shouting it from the rooftops.
