WHAT TO WEAR: Class

April 13th, 2016 at 2:00am

You know those days when you just cannot figure out what you want to wear? You’ve tried on countless outfits but nothing feels quite right. Sure, the clothes fit your body, but they don’t fit your mood that day. Suddenly, more of your outfits are on the floor than in your closet, you’re still not dressed and you were supposed to be out the door five minutes ago. Ugh. So what do you do, college cats?

Make like the Swiss and keep it neutral.

This Fashionista hit the nail on the head. Camel, black and white hues play nicely together. They subtly create a color-blocking effect. The subdued shades give her look a sophisticated, classic appeal. By pairing three simple pieces—a tank top, cardigan and pants—her outfit is cute, comfy and perfect for an early spring day on campus. And the best news? You’ve probably got all the ingredients in your closet.

A flowy white top is a great piece to have in your wardrobe all year round. You can pair it with darker shades in the winter, pastels in the spring and wear it solo in the summer. This Fashionista paired her top with an open-front camel cardigan, making the white blouse pop. Because the top portion of the outfit is loose fitting, it makes sense to balance the look with a slim silhouette on bottom. Black skinny jeans flatter most body types and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. When you find an item you can wear to class and out for margaritas with the girls later, it’s always a go.

Some black wedges give the ensemble an extra hint of chic without being too high for walking around campus. The crisscrossed ankle straps perfectly complement the hem of the skinny jeans. You can’t help but notice her shoes as you pass by. Finally, dark aviators make this Fashionista look seriously posh. Victoria Beckham would approve.

So when you’re having a “nothing looks good on me” kind of day, pluck some neutral pieces out of that closet for an effortlessly chic look.

One Simple Change: When the weather really starts to warm up, slip off the cardigan and  slip on some accessories. Add a funky necklace and grab a fun, printed clutch to give your outfit a pop of color.
