WHAT TO WEAR: Brunch

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade – or put them on a midnight blue calf-length dress and wear them to brunch. If I’ve learned anything about fashion found at the University of New Mexico it is that everyone seems to march to the beat of their own drum.

However, not many can march to their own beat and work a lemon printed dress quite like this Fashionista. Prints and patterns always become more popular during the summer and this dress is a perfect example of that trend. The dress is conservative but has an open back and pockets, creating a more casual look which is why this dress is perfect for countless daytime events.

This Fashionista paired the dress with white accessories, from her pearl necklace to her watch to her heels. This choice in accessories is perfect because the dress is the centerpiece of the outfit and should not be overtaken by any accessories that could take away from its already vibrant pattern. That way, the dress appears to be not only fun but also sophisticated.

In addition to soft white accessories, she chose to style her hair in loose waves which makes the dress appear less dressy and presents an overall fun and laid back appearance. She also kept her makeup light and minimal in accordance with this daytime brunch look.

One Simple Change: This look can be taken from brunch to an internship look by simply adding a pair of tan flats, a bun and a black or navy cropped blazer or sweater.
