WHAT TO WEAR: Back to School

As September gets into full swing and it seems as though summer is long behind us, it can be a little tough to part with those favorite summer pieces until next year (tucking away my denim shorts is usually an emotional experience). Don’t get me wrong, I love fall and all of the awesome fashion options that it brings, but going back to school always makes me miss hot summer days and the bright, fun outfits that came with them. But if you’re like me, don’t worry—this Fashionista’s got you covered for style inspiration. Her look is the perfect way to bring a bit of that summery style back to school with you this fall.

She starts her look with a vintage floral top that has a ’70s feel which is very on trend for this season. The long, wide sleeves make it more appropriate for early fall temperatures and balances out the look when paired with her black high-rise shorts. The distressed shorts incorporate some summer festival vibes into the outfit, playing well with the retro style of her top (and giving people like me a way to wear those shorts for just a little longer). Finally, this Fashionista finishes her look with a simple necklace and some black booties, leaving her with an outfit great for transitioning between seasons and perfect for those first couple of weeks of class before fall weather really sets in.

So don’t put away your summer wardrobe just yet, because there might still be hope for that tank top or skirt that you love. The beginning of fall is just the time to mix these warm weather pieces in with your usual fall staples and create some unique new looks that you might not have thought to put together before! Don’t be afraid to experiment a bit.

One Simple Change: Want to take a look like this Fashionista’s from day to night? Swap the shorts for a denim button-up skirt and choose some shoes that have a higher heel. Add an edgy choker and a swipe of some lipstick and you’ve got yourself a great look for going out!
