It’s about that time. That is, time to start thinking about the coming fall semester. As the seasons change, we begin to prepare our wardrobes. Summer clothing has made its way to the sale racks, and early fall has taken its place. While I have loved the trends of summer from boyfriend jeans to culottes to anything inspired by the 1970s, I’m just about ready for cozy wool sweaters, pretty scarves and tall boots.
And by the looks of it, plaid is going to be a hit this fall. This Fashionista is wearing a plaid wool skort from Brandy Melville. Notice how its red lines add a subtle pop of color to the mix. Because the skirt is somewhat high-waisted, she has paired it with a high-neck, black cropped top. She is wearing black leather Dr. Marten boots. For accessories she has chosen to match a gold Michael Kors watch and a gold evil eye necklace from Dogeared. The necklace is delicate and does not take away from the neckline of her top.
This ensemble would be great for the day, and it would be even better for going out at night by changing shoes to something more elegant. While it would be great for the day, not everyone will feel comfortable wearing a cropped top to class.
One Simple Change: To make this outfit more appropriate for the daytime, top it off with a slouchy long cardigan sweater. This will add a third element to the outfit, and it will also help cover up some skin. Outside of class, tie the cardigan around your waist.
