WHAT TO WEAR: Attending Classes at a Southern School

Classes at Elon University are not simply for learning. Of course learning is important and super encouraged, but being a Southern institution means that fashion is always something that students take into consideration. Students rarely show up to class in their pajamas or anything but their most fashionable outfits. One of the reasons I appreciate this concept so much is because I enjoy looking my best on all occasions and being around others who do too.

Southern fashion definitely has its stereotypes where some are true, but most are untrue. The truths are that most everything is monogrammed, Lilly Pulitzer is considered to be a fashion icon and cowboy boots are worn regularly. On the other side of the spectrum, not everyone in the south embraces southern culture and that’s okay too, but regardless of what you may deem southern fashion to be, the one thing that is always true is that looking your best is always in style.

This Fashionista is wearing a typical outfit for attending class. Her cute, yet casual romper is perfect for class time and the brutal heat we’re currently enduring in North Carolina. She pairs this romper with classic Jack Rogers and a monogrammed tote bag. She keeps the look fashionable and relaxed with simple jewelry and trendy sunglasses.

Southern style and culture play a prominent role at my university and in my everyday life which I’m very grateful for! The fashion game is always strong and every day I get to experience new lessons in my classes, whether that be fashion related or educational.
