WHAT TO WEAR: ’90s Vibes, Baby

When denim on denim, aka the “Canadian Tuxedo” becomes acceptable again—’90s vibes are back and every Fashionista could not be happier. Denim on denim was basically my childhood, along with every other kid that grew up in the ’90s. So, I guess it was true when my grandma told me that, eventually, every trend comes back around full circle like it never went out of style. There really is nothing like finding the perfect pair of jeans, especially these that are making a huge come back from the past. Goodbye simple denim; hello patches, raw denim, multiple washes stitched together to become a one-of-a-kind pair, etc. Denim really is the “it” girl way to add sass to essentially any outfit.

So yes, denim on denim has made its extreme come back, but let’s not forget the over-sized reflective sunglasses, hoop earrings, belts and turtlenecks—all amazing and, duh, all SO 90’s. Each of these items is a must-have for every Fashionista this fall. I think we can all agree that denim on denim has the ability to become boring after a while, which is why the patch and embroidery trend has become so mandatory in the fashion world. The second I laid my eyes on this denim jacket, I fell in love. It is a jacket with character and has the power to make an ordinary outfit an unreal one.

The fear of not being able to pull of the denim on denim look is definitely obtained by many. You don’t want to step out of the house looking like Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake because let’s be real—that holds denim on denim at a completely different level. To make denim on denim work, try pairing different washes to avoid looking monotone. Add patches or embroidery to any piece of denim, it’s an easy and fun DIY project. Having the ability to add your own twist to something can make it that much better. So, go for it—pull out that essential jean jacket waiting in your closet and couple it with a fun pair of jeans. Most importantly, don’t be ashamed to channel your inner ’90s boss chick look.
