But sometimes, planning a week-long trip in the middle of the school year is just plain hard. By the time midterms are over, it’s difficult to drag yourself out of bed, much less drive several hours to a faraway destination. However, we’d argue that the effort is always worth it. Besides, who doesn’t love reminiscing about spring break? Plus, when your besties are with you, you’re sure to have a great time together. If you’re itching to get away and make some memories that’ll last forever, we’ve got your back with some of our community members’ favorite spring break moments. From all-inclusive resorts to last-minute road trips, here are six stories to spark some ideas for what to do on spring break.

My favorite spring break trip happened last year with my sister. We went to Scottsdale, Arizona, for 10 days and it was so relaxing. We shopped, hung by the pool, rode bikes, and took a ridiculous amount of cactus photos. It was so much fun spending that quality time together before we both got too busy. We’d stay up really late every night talking and joking about anything and everything. It was one of those trips where I savored every moment.” — Brooke Lofgren, Drake University class of 2018

My spring break trip last year when I was studying abroad in Europe was so random and fun. My friends and I vacationed at an all-inclusive resort in the Canary Islands off the coast of Spain. We stayed for five days and enjoyed the pool, beach, and unlimited waffles. We were the only ones under the age of 40 at the hotel. We had the best time goofing off, tanning, and eating.” — Molly Delmore, University of Arizona class of 2018

Last year I took a spring break vacation with two of my closest friends to Newport Beach, California, and it was so much fun! We went for an entire week and had the most amazing time lying on the beach, riding bikes along the coast, and eating such delicious food. One of the funniest things that happened was that my friend who looks a lot like Blake Lively got mistaken for her multiple times throughout the trip. At first we denied it, and then after the fifth mistaken identity ordeal we just went with it. A couple people wanted a photo with her or asked how Ryan [Reynolds] was doing. It was hilarious!” — Sarah White, University of Kansas class of 2018

“Last year was by far my favorite spring break trip of college. A couple friends and I ended up going on a road trip to Nashville, Tennessee, completely on a whim. It was the Thursday before spring break started, and none of us had any vacation plans. Then, one of my friends announced that she found this incredibly priced Airbnb. Five minutes later, we were all screaming, running around, and starting to pack. It was awesome. We left early the next morning and had the most spontaneous fun week. We went to the coolest restaurants and listened to the best bands. It was completely unplanned, and I don’t know how the trip could’ve been any better.”— Kendall Thomas, University of Iowa class of 2018

Last spring break, I went to Seattle, Washington, to visit one of my good friends who had transferred from my university the semester before. I was there for about five days, but I loved every minute of it—I got to see the beautiful city and spent every waking hour with my friend that I missed. She showed me her own version of Seattle, like her favorite thrift stores and sushi restaurant. We skipped all of the touristy things and did the things she found cool enough.” — Natalie Geisel, George Washington University class of 2020

“My favorite spring break trip was during my sophomore year of college. A group of 10 of us decided to go skiing and stayed at one of the girls’ houses in Breckenridge, Colorado. We came up with this dare game at the beginning of the year that we always play, so of course we did that all that week. Some of the dares were more casual, and others were more intense. One of the crazier ones that my friend and I received was skiing down the mountain in our swimsuits—so of course we did it. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard about something. Definitely a memory that I’ll never forget!” — Ashley Kiss, University of Missouri class of 2018.
