SYLE GURU BIO: Shruti Bramadesam

Hey there fellow Fashionistas! My name is Shruti Bramadesam and I am a freshman at the George Washington University! As a journalism major, it is hard for me not to have a passion for writing. While thankfully I have that, I also have a passion for fashion. Fashion, to me, is a way of getting to know someone without even talking to them. What you wear speaks volumes, so why not put your best foot forward?

My personal style is hard to define because it is something I am still trying to figure out. I recently realized that my inspiration behind my outfits is my favorite store in all of the land—Anthropologie. I love to be unique while not being over the top. I love to be chic while remaining comfortable and I love to be glamorous without being that girl who tries too hard (although there is nothing wrong with that). That store embodies the style I strive to incorporate into my everyday wardrobe and even in my everyday routine. (I mean, have you seen their stationary section?!) I religiously follow Aimee Song on Instagram and have read her book “Capture Your Style” cover to cover. It is my favorite go-to book for quick outfit ideas and photo tips. She has taught me how to change up my style while still remaining true to myself.

As for this look, I paired some of my three-year-old jeans from Topshop with some simple black booties from Steve Madden. I threw in a unique scarf from India, but it is super easy to find similar chiffon material scarfs on Etsy. Underneath the newest edition to my winter coats is this casual grey V-neck sweater from another one my favorite stores—Aritzia.

I am so excited to start this new journey to find my personal style, and I am more excited to take you along with me!
