STYLE OF ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Keep It Simple

October at the University of Central Arkansas doesn’t feel like October should in the slightest. Nature isn’t the bounteous wonder it should be; the leaves aren’t falling, there is no wind or breeze, and there is not even a tinge of cold on anyone’s cheeks. The past few weeks we’ve had much more sun than expected, and with this we’ve had to get creative with our fall clothing.

Despite the deplorable weather, campus is still charged with stylish individuals who are succeeding at maneuvering it. This Fashionisto sports a casual, refreshing look. He chooses to pair a light blue button-down with dark jeans and Chukka boots. The look is a simple one, and is thus something that would be easy to dress up or down depending on the occasion (with the possibilities being truly endless).

What makes the look interesting, though, is his addition of both a sleek silver watch and dark brown sunglasses. Details are what can make a look more intriguing. They are like metaphors in literature: little ideas that help communicate a message about an individual’s personal style and in this case sense of fashion.

The great thing about fashion is that it gives individuals a way to express themselves; it can be changed or altered in the slightest ways and take on whole different meanings. This Fashionisto kept it simple and was able to convey a sense of ease and lightness with his accessory choice. One can only wonder what he might do to restructure this outfit had the weather been cooler, and I will keep wondering until it does.
