I don’t think weather should ever be an excuse for slacking off on your style. With temperatures as low as 10-degrees in Western New York, it can be difficult to dress fashionably and stay warm at the same time. One of my favorite go-to outfits for winter is layering a bulky, cable-knit sweater with black jeggings.

The spring 2015 ready-to-wear A.L.C. show featured unique all-black outfits, which inspired the look I am wearing. Not only does black stand out walking in a sea of white snow, but it is also a versatile color. I love the zipper detailing incorporated in my look. Zippers are a subtle way to transform an outfit from simple to chic. They are an unexpected detail people will love. I love the combination of silver zippers from the leather jacket and the gold zipper accents on my sweater.

Versatility is a must-have characteristic for my outfits, which is why I think black-on-black outfits are a staple for winter. Leather jackets are a statement piece that are also versatile. Whether you’re looking to dress your look up or down, a leather jacket is the perfect addition to any outfit.

You can easily wear this look for a day filled with classes, internship assignments, coffee date, or a girls night out. Having a go-to outfit that you can easily wear from day to night is convenient for a girl’s wardrobe in college.

Zippers are definitely an understated trend. With a little layering and chic, comfortable clothing, you’ll be sure to rock this trend during the winter season.
