STYLE GURU STYLE: Winter Knits

In the colder months of winter, it’s important to layer up and stay warm. But just because you need to be warm doesn’t mean you have to skimp on style. Chunky knits and over-the-knee boots were a huge runway trend for this season, specifically at Altuzarra fall 2015 ready-to-wear. They are both timeless pieces that can easily be dressed up or down, and together they create an altogether chic outfit. Though this specific outfit is more for when it gets closer to spring, you can easily swap and add pieces for those frigid temperatures.

The trick with my look was that I’m not wearing a skirt as it may seem, it’s actually a dress. This is a great way to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring. My favorite kind of dresses are swing/shift dresses. Pair it over a turtleneck and viola, you have an easy and comfortable look. With turtlenecks, the bigger the better especially this time of the year. I could wear a turtleneck with anything because they keep you so warm and are just beyond comfortable. To dress this look up, you can swap out the swing dress for a tight-fitting dress.

Any outfit gets better when paired with the right accessories. Over-the-knee boots have been an obsession of mine for the past year, but I’m just now pairing them with dresses and skirts. I think that’s a super easy way to wear what you want in the winter while still keeping your legs nice and warm. For some added warmth, I added a wool, floppy hat, which are so trendy right now. Since this look is filled with more neutral colors, a beauty tip would be to add a bright and punchy lipstick. This is my personal favorite beauty trend right now since it can instantly amp up an outfit and is flattering on everyone.
