STYLE GURU STYLE: White Lace

Summer is about rocking light fabrics and light colors, a trend especially exhibited throughout Nanette Lepore’s resort 2016 collection. She uses white lace to create a feminine, airy vibe. Her loose-fitting tops and dresses are the perfect lightweight attire for warm, breezy summer days and the material makes effortless and comfortable pieces look sophisticated and elegant.

I chose to incorporate white lace into my outfit with a kimono. I placed it over a simple cotton tank top dress to add a little more flair to the plain gray frock. The boho piece helps brighten up my dark dress and make the outfit more summery. It’s long, flowy nature creates a carefree, festival vibe. I finished off the look with black flat ankle booties and a long necklace. I wanted to use simple accessories because the kimono acts as a statement of it’s own. I wore my hair down and gave it a beachy wave to go with the laid-back nature of the white lace. To get those beachy waves, just spritz some sea salt spray onto your damp hair, scrunch it a couple of times, and leave it to air dry. If you want to dress up the outfit a little more, pair the dress and the kimono with some heeled black booties and a shorter statement necklace. Put your wavy locks up into a top knot, add some bold lipstick and you’re ready to go.

Get My Look: 1. A white lace kimono. 2. A simple dress. 3. Flat booties. 4. A long necklace.
