STYLE GURU STYLE: White Hot Culottes

If you’re any rational, sane-minded person, you may be more than slightly apprehensive about wearing all white. Trust me, I understand the fear that visions of unfortunately placed dirt marks can elicit. Nevertheless, not too long ago, I ventured into the exhilarating world of wearing all white. Not only did I wear all white, but I wore an all-white culotte jumpsuit. Crazy, right? Well it turns out that I’m not the only crazy one out there. My look was inspired by the spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection by Tibi. This collection, designed by Amy Smilovic, was chock full of all-white outfits as well as culottes and culotte-length silhouettes.

Although my jumpsuit is more fitted than most of the pieces in Tibi’s billowy spring 2016 collection, it would fit in fairly seamlessly. The flowy nature of the culotte legged jumpsuit could easily be seen in places like Miami or Malibu, which is where the Tibi spring 2016 collection was inspired. I was drawn to this collection for its effortlessly minimalistic, yet classy summer feel, which is what also drew me to the jumpsuit! When I saw it, I had to take a leap of faith and try it out. To make this look my own, I added my Tory Burch clutch, nude heels, a magenta statement necklace and a pair of matching lips.

After trying out this little number, I realized that I’m mildly obsessed with culottes. This may be because I’m not much of a pants person, and culottes are just super flowy pants that can look like a skirt (without the fear of flashing anyone when a breeze rolls by). These fun pants have become a trend that’s now running rampant across the fashion world. Not to mention they’re pretty darn flattering on most body types! If you want to check out more of Tibi’s culottes (that are basically skirts in disguise), just take a gander at the spring 2015 and 2014 collections! As for wearing all-white, I’m not going to lie, it was a little nerve-wracking. However, the simplistic empowerment that I felt while wearing the all-white outfit was well worth the extra effort it took to look twice before I sat down anywhere!
