STYLE GURU STYLE: White Hot

Cheers Fashionistas and Fashionistos! This week the temperature has been rising and rising, meaning the cooler the clothing, the better. Sometimes that can mean sacrificing fashion for functionality, but not all the time.

One of my favorite trends right now is the all-white trend. A few years ago, it would have been considered tacky to be wearing so much white at one time, but now it’s a trend in full swing. One of my favorite lines that featured this trend was Givenchy’s 2016 resort line. A lot of the looks that were featured were looks that centered around one color, white being a popular choice.

What I love about the color white is that it is in itself a color that keeps you cooled down since it reflects the sun instead of absorbs it like black or other darker colors do.

I love playing with trends like this because there are so many ways that it can be done. One of my favorite pieces in my closet is this white envelope hem skort. Believe me, when skorts made a comeback, my six-year-old self was rejoicing. I love that this skort is made out of scuba material also because it is a nice touch that adds for a bit more comfort.

On the top half, I wanted to go for something a bit more fun than just a T-shirt or tank top so I opted for this textured T-shirt, which has also been one of my favorite pieces. I think that quilting or extra texture is a fun way to bring subtle details into a look without overdoing it. For accessories, I just went with my staple pair of Birkenstock style sandals, again in white to continue the trend.

This is one of my favorite looks when I want to be cool, comfortable and still stylish. The angling on the skort makes the entire look seem sharper and chic, which is always a plus.

No matter what you decide to wear though, we are entering one of the hottest months of the year, so stay cool and stay stylish.

Get My Look: 1. Skort. 2. Detailed T-shirt. 3. Birkenstocks.
