STYLE GURU STYLE: White Canvas

Zac Posen showed a side of simplicity with a splash of texture during his spring 2015 ready-to-wear show. The power of white gave me inspiration to break out of the box and start wearing the color before Memorial Day and after Labor Day. Although Posen kept the color scheme simple, he added textures and the unique cuts of the looks kept my eyes glancing ahead to see what came next. I loved that each look had a cut that complemented the waistline. Sometimes I see designers who try to mix different colors and textures in the same look. It can be overpowering, but Posen’s decision on creating a simplistic color scheme worked perfectly with his choice in texturized fabrics.

With the sun shining bright and the snow finally melted from the ground, I decided to take out a summer dress and go all out in white. My style is usually a pair of jeans with a classic T-shirt, but Posen inspired me to throw out my pants and try something new. To spoof up a simple white dress with a curved line texture, I added a long daisy necklace for spring vibes. I picked cowgirl style booties because they reminded me of summertime drives with the windows down playing country music.

Seeing the color white everywhere has inspired me to not be afraid to get things dirty. I usually go with black or denim, and from now on I will choose to step outside my box choosing something vibrant with a simple twist. The rules for white no longer apply to me!

Get My Look: 1. A white sundress. 2. A statement backpack. 3. A long chain necklace.
