STYLE GURU STYLE: Wedding

Wedding season is here and it’s in full swing! You know what that means: endless opportunities to look your best and show off your favorite new shoes, or bag or summer dress. When deciding what to wear to these wondrous events, finding the sweet spot between formal and fun can be pretty tricky. You want to look good, but at the same time, you’ll want to be able to dance the night away in celebration. Keeping that in mind, I thought this swing dress fit the mold perfectly. The breezy fit of the dress won’t restrict you and will allow you to be comfortable, but you can rely on the print to keep you looking wedding-ready.

This look was subtly inspired by the Giambattista Valli fall 2016 couture show. The loose silhouettes and the light, feminine prints featured in this collection came to mind when I was searching for an outfit to wear. Now, it takes a lot to rock a mile high ruffle sleeve or a protruding five foot tulle poof dress on a day-to-day basis. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you shouldn’t (if you do, teach me your ways). I thought I’d tone down these two ideas with a more relaxed sleeve and a flowy, wider-fitting body. I wanted to capture the essence of the two bold concepts to allow for a more relaxed, everyday look that’s easier to wear.
