STYLE GURU STYLE: Warmth, Texture And A Pop of Color

No. 21’s pre-fall 2015 runway show was simply incredible. I fell head-over-heels in love with the each ensemble. Every look was the perfect combination of fashion-forward and brisk weather friendly. I found the consistent combination of navy blue and black especially interesting, since that isn’t normally a go-to color combination. However, my eyes were lighting up with admiration instead of wincing at the two colors together. The use of neutral tones and pops of bright colors really inspired me to change how I dress during the winter. No. 21 demonstrates that it is possible to be warm and fabulous at the same time.

When choosing my outfit for the day, I kept No. 21’s runway show in mind. I wanted to sum up the entire show in one outfit all while adding my own personal twist. Navy blue is one of my favorite colors to wear all year-round. When I spotted my navy blue quilted vest in the closet, I knew it would be perfect. It has a unique texture and black trim to capture the color combination that amazed my eyes. I then went for my neutral colored sweater with lace trim lining the bottom. Medium wash jeans were the obvious, warmest choice along with my dark brown riding boots. I felt as if I needed to accent the lace trim on my sweater a little more, so I opted for crochet boot cuffs with brown buttons. My turquoise statement necklace followed suit, and it is the perfect pop of color.

No. 21’s fall 2015 show inspired me to combine colors I normally wouldn’t. I never imagined pairing navy blue and black, but now my mind is extremely open to the idea. The result of my venture to capture all the trends featured in the runway show was very successful. I loved the risk involved with it and plan on taking more fashion risks throughout the remainder of winter!
