STYLE GURU STYLE: Versatile Chambray With A Winter Twist

Looking through J.Crew’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I loved how polished and classy everything looked. With very clean lines and a mix of neutral and bold colors, it creates a very sophisticated yet casual look for outfits.

My favorite look involves mixing different textures and styles of tops and bottoms. With a loose chambray button-down top and black pants, the chambray color really stands out. The neutral pants and pop of color up top also keeps it tame and crisp.

It’s always tempting to wear all neutrals and black during the winter, but my look brings a little color to the cold and dull wintry days.

While keeping in mind of J.Crew’s runway show, my outfit consisted of a chambray button-down top and skinny black jeans that flowed into knee-high suede wedged boots. To stay warm and add a pop of color and personality, I added a tribal or Aztec patterned wrap that I picked up while studying abroad in Australia. The wrap can also be worn as an oversized scarf for those extra cold days walking around campus. The wrap is very versatile. I have also once paired it with a black maxi dress to keep me warm at night for when the sun sets.

The base of the outfit, the chambray top and dark pants, is an easy base because it can easily be changed throughout the seasons and trends by simply adding new accessories and shoes.

Get My Look: 1. Chambray button-down top. 2. Skinny black jeans. 3. Knee-high suede wedged boots.
