STYLE GURU STYLE: Under the Blumarine

The rare days that I am able to get away from a parka during winter in NYC are when I take the opportunity to bring out a little pizazz. The first half of Blumarine fall 2011 collection showcased neutral and minimalistic looks featuring turtleneck sweaters, coats and over-the-knee boots. I am a big fan of each look from this collection for its simplicity and at the same time very wearable. The three key pieces are some of my favorite winter clothing and I love combining them in a day or night time outfit.

A thick and long turtleneck sweater is very on trend for the season. The piece is more luxurious than your average sweater and can provide warmth to the neck. I paired mine with denim jeans and my favorite black suede over the knee boots.  I love the sleek and lengthening effect of these boots and their versatility. The options of outfits featuring over the knee boots are endless. I decided to dress up my look with a faux fur coat; the material is very soft yet cozy. There is a dainty animal pattern on this coat that adds just the right amount of glamor.

The Blumarine collection is definitely one to check out for winter inspiration. The line featured many pieces I already had in my closet. I especially liked how simple it was to put together a rather elegant outfit. To transform the look from day to night, I would change the lip color to a darker berry shade, add a pair of some rhinestone earrings and carry a clutch.

Get My Look: 1. A faux fur jacket. 2. Black over the knee boots. 3. A turtleneck sweater.
