STYLE GURU STYLE: Try To Persuede Me

Shoes, skirts, dresses, bags? You name it, Chloé’s got it. Suede is back, and it’s taking the runway by storm!

Clare Waight Keller, the creative designer of the French fashion house Chloé, has created one of this year’s most delicately intriguing runway productions. The Chloé spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection featured a series of pieces ranging anywhere from airy dresses to sturdy workwear. In a simple assortment of 39 ingenious ensembles, Clare Waight Keller was able to rekindle our love for ‘70s fashion. From suede accents to denim suits, this collection managed to appropriate a decade of eccentricity.

Though this collection was exceptionally neat and clean-cut, the hints of suede attire were ironically what inspired today’s bohemian look. More particularly, look 15 reminded me of my very own suede skirt, which I used as the focal point of my outfit. It is one of the most unique pieces in my wardrobe, so I couldn’t wait to style it. In my perspective, nothing speaks better to earth tones and suede textiles better than bohemian fashion.

My ultimate goal for this look was to put a modern twist on bohemian fashion. Since I am not entirely a fan of the hipster vibe inherent to bohemian style, I opted for ankle boots, a floppy hat and a high neck crop top in place of gladiator sandals, fringe and a deep V-neck top. Now don’t get me wrong, when it comes to accessorizing, I play to the bohemian rules. I threw on just about every gold ring I owned and was sure to layer some of my favorite bracelets and necklaces. As an added bonus, my plaid shirt is one of my finest thrift store finds and really plays to the carefree lifestyle of bohemian fashion.

My outfit also includes one of my favorite fashion must-haves, knee-high socks. The delicate lace trimming around the knee is as close to wearing fringe as I will probably ever get. What I love most about fashion is that it allows you to find yourself. It isn’t about following “trendsetters” or simply wearing outfits to fit expectations. It is about feeling comfortable in your own skin and finding clothes to match the confidence your style evokes. Although I am not entirely in love with certain bohemian trends, fashion allows for me to switch up the “guidelines” while staying chic, boho-chic to be exact.

That being said, some trends just ought to remain unchanged. To stay true to the easygoing vibe of bohemian style, I also rocked my leather slouchy backpack and, of course, my unconventional circle shades. Let’s be honest, throwing a little shade never looked so good!

Get My Look: 1. A suede A-line skirt. 2. Knee-high socks. 3. A pair of rad circle sunglasses.
