STYLE GURU STYLE: Tropicana Trip

Do you ever just want to wake up to palm trees and an ocean breeze? I sure do. Tropical lifestyles are something that most people envy and dream of. Because of the positive energy tropical living exerts, many tropical prints have recently become more popular in clothing items.

Timo Weiland’s resort 2016 collection really caught my eye with his use of leafy tropical palm fronds. Throughout the collection, the colors were more muted, aside from the occasional outburst of an emerald green or blue palm frond. The subtle background colors and surrounding pieces really showcased the tropical print when it was used. Fringe detail, clutch bags and high neckline tops were also prevalent in this collection.

For my look, I drew inspiration from the palm frond print featured in this collection when picking my pants. The wide leg pant trend featured in this collection also influenced my decision in picking palazzo, wide leg pants to wear. I opted for brighter colors for a more summery feel versus a demure tropical look. I incorporated the high necklines with my reverse racer, magenta crop top. I love the side by side contrast of the flowy, movable pant with the tight, structured crop top. This also prevented me from looking too wide, like if I had chosen a flowy top to wear with the pants. I like to either wear crop tops or tuck in my shirt when I wear palazzo pants in order to feature my figure and highlight my natural waistline for a more flattering look. I opted for simple sandals and a dainty opal necklace to personalize my look. I incorporated the fringe detail with my clutch handbag and added sunglasses for practicality.

Jump into a tropical lifestyle when you incorporate fun tropical prints into your wardrobe. These prints make summer that much more irresistible and fun!
