STYLE GURU STYLE: Traveling Fashionably

When it comes to traveling you either love it, or you hate it. For me personally I love traveling! Whenever I am traveling I often think of the quote, “Life is a journey, not a destination,” by Ralph Waldo Emerson. Sometimes traveling can be so difficult and time consuming but this quote reminds me to enjoy every moment of my journey. An important part of the traveling process for me is to dress comfortably. If you’re anything like me those early morning flights are torturous for you, so you tend to pick the easiest outfit. Not only is it crucial for you to pick something quick and easy to throw on, but something that will get you through security quickly. I used to be that person who would come to the airport in full makeup and a full put together outfit, but after a while it got old. I realized that since I am not a morning person I needed to come up with a solution to look like I tried without really trying.

My inspiration for this look came from Alpha Industries Spring 2016 collection. I loved how this collection was inspired by exploration and designed to be comfortable for traveling, which was perfect for the look I was going for. For this outfit I chose to wear a loose fitting, striped dress. This dress is perfect to wear to keep cool and to also be comfortable on long flights. I then chose to throw a camouflaged jacket over my dress to make my outfit more put together. It is also a good idea to bring a jacket since sometimes flights can get a little chilly. Since you will most likely be waking up early or rushing to the airport, hats are a great way to cover up your hair that you didn’t have time to do. I chose to wear this simple, blue, New York hat to add a little color into my outfit. To finish off my look I wore some black and white slip-on shoes. Slip-on shoes are great for airports. The last thing you want to do is take extra time untying and tying your shoes at airport security. I also chose not to wear any jewelry with this outfit because it is time consuming at security. If you’re like me and you like to keep it simple, but put together at the same time then this look if perfect for you!
