STYLE GURU STYLE: Timeless Two-Piece

Although fashion trends come and go, this one has already proven to stay for a while. I was first introduced to the uprising fashion trend of two-piece sets by the classic and sophisticated street style of Taylor Swift, and I admit, it was love at first sight. Who would’ve thought that the idea of dividing a dress into a top and bottom would essentially create a game changer in the fashion industry? The simple peak of the mid-drift carries an alluring yet elegant look, something that dresses lack to offer. Not to mention, the best part about these matching sets is that you can swap out pieces for other wardrobe favorites to create an entirely new look. Two-piece sets prove to be a true match made in heaven and continuously capture the attention of celebrities and fashion designers everywhere.

This fun look from Philipp Plein’s resort 2016 collection is what originally inspired my outfit choice for this week. What I admire most about this collection is that each and every one of Plein’s looks holds a modern and respectable appearance. He does an outstanding job tying together each outfit with bright patterns and pieces without the outcome coming off as overbearing.

I aimed to mirror Plein’s business casual theme with my form-fitted duo, consisting of a cropped blouse and knee-length pencil skirt. Going off his look, I also decided to incorporate heels into my ensemble, in which I chose my favorite two strap black heels. As for accessories, I kept jewelry to a minimum in order to avoid distraction from the patterns, so I settled for a white watch and my solid black Céline-inspired purse. As a finishing touch, I decided to add a pop of color on the lips to contrast from the navy blues and blacks.

Get My Look: 1. Two-piece set. 2. Two strap heels. 3. White watch.
