STYLE GURU STYLE: The Resort Wear Trend

Vacations are something everyone looks forward to. They give you the opportunity to not only sit back and relax, but they are a time when Fashionistas are able to show off their favorite pieces. alice + olivia’s resort 2016 show on Style.com provides Fashionistas with trends to improve their own wardrobe. It focuses on the ever-changing trends of the fashion world and how those can be applied to each individual’s own unique style. I took this into consideration when planning my own outfit based upon resort wear style. I chose something that was comfortable for me, yet exemplified my own style. The thing that I took away from this trend report was that it is okay to be different, to create your own style and then rock it wherever the wind blows you. alice + olivia’s resort show was all about diversifying and playing with your own look, and that is just what I did!

I took the unique resort wear looks and made them my own. I started from the bottom up. Gladiator sandals have always been my favorite style shoe; they are perfect for traveling and exceptionally comfortable. Then I chose a pair of shorts that were unique to my own style. These shorts were a little out of the box for me, considering I do not usually wear silk fabric shorts. I added a white sweater to my look; it was easy to just throw on to complete the outfit, and could be paired with a lot of other bottoms, which is a necessity when traveling.

I finished off my resort look with accessories. I chose gold and silver bracelets and a gold watch to accent my brown sandals and bag. The bag is one of my favorite purchases and has always been special to me ,as I bought it in the leather market in Florence, Italy! However, it is a classic bag that can be replicated in many different styles. I finished off my look with a pair of blue, mirrored Ray-Ban sunglasses. From the trend report, I learned that unique and bright colors are in this year, which led me to chose the bright blue lenses instead of a regular lens.

Get My Look: 1. Light and airy patterned shorts. 2. A sweater that flows seamlessly with your shorts. 3. A light brown leather bag with a bunch of pockets is perfect for traveling and the resort wear look!
