STYLE GURU STYLE: The New Bohemia

Is it even spring without Coachella? Although the hippie-inspired festival is fulfilled in the media right now, let’s get one thing straight: bohemian style is still the latest trend in the warmer months and celebrities have debuted a variety of bohemian styles for their fun in the sun with embroidered lace, metals, glitter and the high-waist look. But, this season is not for your typical hippie-bum status where rolling out of bed is a fashion statement. In fact, this bohemian season took on a new bohemia pedestal and the latest bohemian “it” girl is not just rocking the casual oversized flower child look. The new bohemia is much like what was shown Thakoon spring 2016; sexy and sensibility with a touch of grunge. I’m talking slip dresses and skirts that follow a clean black and white memo with cuts that deem a sexy and sensible look for a day in the sun with friends. This collection took bohemia to the next generation of sex appeal and grunge, making it a versatile look for your modern day hippie. This collection not only had a creative technique designed in each look that cat walked across the stage, but it took the foundation of being a free-spirited hippie and made her alluring and sexy.

This line was captivating because it spoke for our modern Fashionista. It was daring, exclusive and alive. It took the modern street style and mixed it with a ’70s flower child. And even though sexy cuts were followed through the entire line, it was comfortable and something that could be worn during a week long festival. I took the Thakoon look and paired it with a laced cropped top and matched it with a high-waisted cut skirt. To match the new bohemia look that the Thakoon line demonstrated, I paired a black and white look that made a contrast between the ’70s hippie and grunge style from each piece worn. This look can be paired with strapped heels that I am wearing, a gladiator sandal or even a leather ankle shoe. To add an accessory to this look, you’ll want to keep it simple, especially if you’re wearing a busy top similar to mine. I simply added in some metal ring hair accessories in between the braid in my hair. This look not only replicates the dreadlocks look, but it also adds a grunge flavor to it. All in all, don’t be afraid to experiment.

Get My Look: 1. Metal rings. 2. High-waisted skirt. 3. Laced crop top.
