STYLE GURU STYLE: The Art of Twos

Just like my favorite food dishes, I have found that combining my favorite things always leads to something better. Whoever came up with mac and cheese pizza—you’re my hero. Here, I mixed my favorite two piece romper sets that were becoming a bit overused and was able to bring them back to life.

I love the idea of mixing soft pleats like I saw in the Boss spring 2016 runway show when it made its debut back in September and I have been wanting to incorporate it into my style ever since. The subtle pleats give an otherwise boring draped fabric a more interesting twist by adding some body while still cinching in a particular area to give a flattering look. A big summer trend this year is soft and flowy high-waisted shorts and I think adding pleats to them gives it an adorable polished look.

The cropped halter top adds some coverage on your chest while still showing a bit of leg on the shorts. The shorts I am wearing are no longer available, but I have been coveting these Topshop shorts for weeks now. They are the perfect neutral to mix in with all your summer tops! I have paired this look with simple brown wedges and Kendra Scott bracelets.

So this summer when you are searching through your closet feeling like you have nothing to wear, try mixing your otherwise overused romper sets to create something new. Incorporate bold prints, patterns and pleats to find your perfect look.
